ProForKids, Foundation Humanitarian Projects for Orphanages in Ukraine has been established in The Netherlands in November 1996. "ProForKids" stands for "Projects For Kids" The founders of ProForKids are Barbara and Klaus Eckardt. Both worked for AT&T from 1993 till in 1995 in Ukraine. Barbara and Klaus lived in Chernigiv, 150 km to the North of Kiev, the capital. They have been confronted with the poor circumstances of orphanages and boarding schools children have to live in and immediately started with humanitarian aid for them. Being retired in 1995 and back in The Netherlands Barbara and Klaus founded ProForKids. The main objective is to realize structural improvements for children who have to live in orphanages and boarding schools resulting into better circumstances of living and creating the ability to maintain themselves better in the society later on.
