Stichting Netwerk Chernigov is a charity organization in the town of Zwolle, the Netherlands. Pieter Lettinga and Klaas Schoonenboom are the leaders of the organization. Pieter and his wife Margreeth came to Aratta in the year 1999 for the first time and became our dear friends and partners in many projects.

They bought the first office telephone and paid for the first 12 chairs when we still were in the cellar in the center of Chernihiv. Later when we moved to the new place which we rent in a kindergarten Pieter and Klaas presented Aratta the first copying machine and it works even now after 9 years!

Stichting Netwerk Chernigov supported our Theatrical Studio Dyvosad with handicapped children and young people paying for the travel costs to Poland for an International Festival of the Beautiful Theaters.

They also helped to purchase mattresses for the ecological summer camp and we use them for several years already.

Together we support Stara Bassan’ orphanage where Netwerk Chernigov built indoor toilets and shower units some years ago. Pieter Lettinga made a historical present to the childrenof the orphanage – he presented a photo-portrait to every child and for most of them it was the ony one in their life.

Pieter Lettinga’s mother showed her great compassion to a Ukrainian mother who has a handicapped son. She paid for his operation and it considerably improved his condition and ability to walk. Many thanks for this great help.

The year 2011 became a remarkable year for Chernihiv regional charity “Aratta” –

Stichting Netwerk Chernigov together with Kampen Church helped to purchase and to decorate part of a building for the Training Center where we have “Aratta” office, rooms for the free-of-charge clubs and hobby groups, workshops and services for the poor families.

People in crises can get psychological help, legal advice and some education here. This is a really big step forward in the development of “Aratta” giving more opportunities to help socially-unprotected people in Chernihiv and the region.

This help was vital for the organization as from September 2011 all NGOs have to pay 100% for the rent and it would be impossible to keep the place in the kindergarten any more.

All “Aratta” volunteers and people under care are very grateful for such great support and we hope to meet our dear friends and partners in the new premises soon!
