Charity is actually a state of mind.

Charity is actually a state of mind, it is an imperative of the heart, a manifestation of compassion and moral duty of a person to rush to help the poor.

Charitable Organization "Aratta" works for socially - unprotected people helping poor families, disabled and refugees, and now to widows and families of those who lost their lives in Anti-terroristic actions in the east of Ukraine. The organization aims to improve the social - economic and psychological situation of these families and people.

It’s a pity that the number of the people who need support in difficult life situations is growing.

Communicating with friends from foreign charities, including our Soroptimist International friends from Denmark, we came to a conclusion that we need to organize a charity shop in "Aratta" Community Centre. This idea began to be implemented several years ago, and now this is a working shop with its own rules and schedule. We can proudly say that we are the first in Chernihiv, who created such a desired store!

What kind of store and what is it for?

Similar charity stores appeared in England after World War II and now in the UK there are about 7000 of those shops. Historically it happens that people are willing to help each other and it is typical for the population of that country. After many years of this experience such stores spread across all Europe.

This is a shop for people who care about other people's problems, who are ready to help their neighbours, to give people love and kindness. This is an opportunity for everyone to get to know themselves in a new role, to show compassion to those who need help. There are people in our glorious city who are willing to share things with others, but often the questions arise as to how and whom to transfer them. Anyone can bring their goods to our store named "Good deeds", which they would like to share with others.

Goods that people bring for free are waiting for new owners in a cozy shop-room in "Aratta". One can get things for their small donations or for nothing if they have no income. The collected money is used for charity projects.

In the shop "Good deeds" you can find clothes, shoes, jewelry, accessories, books and toys. Everyone who needs such things can use the shop. Our volunteers help to find and pick up necessary goods.

Another important aspect is that according to the philosophy of Fen Shui it is not good to accumulate things that you have not used for a year or more, it is better to share with others and to give them joy.
