Seminar for Vocational Schools’ Specialists

On the 31 of October 2013 a seminar on Evidence Based Prevention took place in the premises of the Nizhyn Vocational School #2. Social teachers and psychologists from the Chernihiv Region vocational schools took part in the event. Valeriy Ryabukha, “Aratta” Project Manager, delivered presentations on Science Based Prevention and Conducting Substance Abuse Prevention Program, CHOICE, in academic year of 2012-2013. Vadym Stokin, Prevention Expert, presented video materials with regards to the CHOICE. Victoria Filatova, Head of “Aratta”, shared information about “Aratta” activities and invited participants for cooperation.

Pre and post surveys were conducted. Among findings of the surveys there were:

• 95% (19 out of 20) of the participants believe that prevention programs must be conducted in the vocational schools;

• 45% of the respondents are ready to conduct a prevention program personally.

The event was supported by the USA Embassy in Ukraine.
