Anthony Budell’s visit

Tony Budell, the founder and director of the charitable organization «British Humanitarian Aid», he visited Ukraine from 11.10.12 to 25.10.12, after a long break because of the problems with his health. Members of “Aratta” were sincerely happy to see and to communicate with the Teacher and inspirer, who is also one of the founders of «Aratta». The programme of the visit was very intensive. The meetings took place with the administration and the team of Chernihiv «Aratta», during which victories and obstacles of development, nuances of collaboration between our charitable organizations were discussed. We thanked Tony for his great support during so many years, also expressed our gratitude to one of the directors from the British side, Philip Edmonds, for his fruitful work; also admitted a considerable help in transporting of humanitarian aid of the British company «Gist» and its representatives – John Bushby with colleagues. Together with Tony plans of collaboration and the dates of the next visits were drawn up. Tony visited the warehouse, the new office of Chernihiv «Aratta» with the children's clubs; celebrated Autumn holiday together with the Theatrical Club. Indeed surprising and joyful was Tony’s meeting with the actors of the Theatrical studio «Dyvosad» for children and young people with special needs.

Certainly, Tony visited the branches of «Aratta» in Schors and in Makoshyno village, where he saw considerable changes and a large desire to continue our joint work on support of the most socially-unprotected layers of the local population.

Not for the first time with great pleasure Tony visited Ploskiy’s Foster family, they live in a v.Vaganichi Gorodnia district. The parents, Slava and Nadia, were very happy to congratulate the guest and to show their unique hospitable family. Tony attentively listened to the story of their achievements and problems, with great joy played with children and ate tried homemade natural food. Together with Nadiya they visited the local medical Assistant's centre and learnt about their needs which Tony promised to satisfy in the nearest time.

The pupils of Zamglai house-boarding-school recognised Tony even after 5-years-old separations what sincerely touched the kind heart of the philanthropist.

In Nizhyn there were a few visits too, to: Children's home for handicapped, to the hostel for orphans, to Agrarian lyceum and a good friend Olechka, a young woman with the special needs, who can’t talk, but she understood Tony’s jokes and stories about the animals, the parents enjoyed Tony’s photos which he presented to the family.

Tony has a special gift of communication with parents and children with special needs, so he visited a new NGO «Voice of parents», which was created last year within Aratta’s MATRA project «Parents’ voice must be strong».

Inspired and full of plans for our future collaboration, Tony promised to visit Ukraine during the Easter holidays!
