New building of Aratta.

Chernihiv Regional Charity “Aratta” is a successful non-governmental organization for 13 years. It has a lot of different activities and until this year it didn’t have its own building. We had to rent premises in a cellar for the first four years, then in a kindergarten where we paid only 1 % of rent. We don’t know how we would cope there because the new law demands from the NGOs to pay a full 100 % rent fee from September 2011!

For some years we were searching for a proper place in the town of Chernihiv to organize our Training Center with different free-of-charge clubs and hobby groups, to equip a sawing workshop and computer class, a place for a hairdresser and a manicurist. This is all for our families under care, to help people in crises, to give opportunities for education and self-development of socially-unprotected people.

This year our dream about our own building for “Aratta” Community Centre came true!

This was possible with the great support of our foreign friends and partners:

• a charity Stichting Netwerk-Chernigov from Zwolle, the Netherlands, which supports “Aratta” for 12 years already!

• And a charity association “Arattas Venner”, Horsens, Denmark.

They gave us money for purchasing of 237 sq.m. in a two-storied building in the centre of Chernihiv. We appreciate this help very much and see the benefits and new opportunities to arrange support on a higher level for those who are in real need in Chernihiv and the region.
