Family festival “Rainbow fair”.

On the 13th of May a family festival “Rainbow fair” took part in Chernihiv region charity “Aratta”. This festival was dedicated to the International Family Day, which wll be celebrated in Ukraine this weekend, on the 15th of May (Sunday).

The main participants of this holiday included families under support of Aratta: Gandzha, Lazorenko, Stukalo, Vershnyak, Kharchenko, Kravchenko, Smolyaninov. The first competition task was to introduce the family, to tell how many members it included, to describe family values, traditions, holidays, common hobbies and likings. Next competition was a contest of talents. Gandzha family showed acrobatic number performed by Elvira (7 years old) and Bohdan (6 years old). The mother – Lazorenko Nina Myhaylivna writes poems so she recited her favourite one, and her son Ivan (9 years old) told 2 humoresques. Mother Vershnyak Iryna Myhaylivna sang a song. Yana (15 years old) from Smolyaninov family also pleased the audience with a song.

Except for performances the festival participants also presented their arts and craft works. Lazorenko family presented handmade goods of salty pastry, Smolyaninov family – beautiful pictures “Zodiac signs” made by burning technique, Kharchenko-Kostetski family – clay craftwork, Stukalo family – wooden and gypsum handicraft, Gandzha family – embroidery.

Viter Galyna Illivna, Sedyachko Valentyna and Illyenko Yulia took part in the organization of the festival. Joyful fair mood was filling the hall during the whole evening: “peddlers” offered different goods to the audience; real gypsy was forecasting the future to everyone who wished, everybody was singing together “Oh there, on the barn floor, wives were selling their husbands at the market”. Then the audience tried tongue twisters, sang tchastooshkas, played musical instruments, danced Ukrainian folk dances accompanied by Kovalenko brothers playing and just had a lot of fun.

At the end of the fair all present could purchase something they liked for a charity donation.

Aratta fair was also attended by American guests (volunteers from Peace Corps), they were amazed by this performance and admitted that Ukrainian culture is very interesting.

The festival ended with the presenting the gifts to family participants and fair tea drinking. Regular sponsors of Chernihiv region charity Aratta – bakery LLC “Nasha bulochka” and LLC confectionery factory “Strila” – helped as usual having provided buns, cookies and sweets of their production.

All families were satisfied and communicated a lot after the official part of the festival, exchanging their problems and achievements.
