February, 13, “Aratta” celebrated St. Valentine’s Day and Festival “Aratta supports talents” was dedicated namely to this event. The aim of the Festival was to unite Aratta-people (members, volunteers, people under care) with the festivity of love, beauty and creativity. In general, there were 19 participants. And they competed in 5 categories: “Singing”, “Verse reciting”, “Playing music instruments”, “Dancing” and “Artwork”. It is worth mentioning that “Artwork” category covered 10 sub-categories, as follows: “Dough modeling”, “Bead-work”, “Painting”, “Embroidering”, “Knitting”, “Poker-work”, “Origami”, “Quilling”, “Carving”, “Decorative and applied arts”. All the items of the program and creative works were very bright and interesting. The jury of the festival consisted of Victoria Filatova, chairperson of the Charity “Aratta”, Svetlana Butko, administrative manager of the Charity “Aratta” and Irina Lepekha, the leader of “Skilful hands” club of the Charity “Aratta”. The most memorable were the families which put forward several participants such as the Shumars and the Kovalenkos. From Shumar family Oksana, the mother, presented her works at “Decorative and applied arts” category in addition to a marvelous eastern dance and her son Vladislav presented a lovely drawing and a piece of poker-work. Kovalenko family also presented two participants. Two brothers played music instruments Valentine played a tube and Vladislav played synthesizer. The animators of the festival were Constantine Shapoval and Liudmyla Migachova. They entertained the audience with lots of funny, cogitative and captivating contests, created family and warm atmosphere. They disclosed the legend about the origin of the celebration, mentioned the countries where this day is celebrated and the way it is done there. They taught children how to greet loving couples and all beloved people: parents, grandparents, teachers, friends and so on. A local TV-channel representatives were present at the Festival together with the a photojournalist. All the participants of the Festival received gifts. And as a close-up of the event was the collective tee-party with sweet rolls and candies from our sponsors: bakery “Efes” and confectionery “Strila”.
