“Sunshine” and “Parent’s voice” projects.

Nowadays the problem of teaching children with special needs is large-scale but not properly solved. Lately new educational system known as inclusive education becomes widely spread. This system provides creation of an educational environment which would fit every child’s needs and abilities regardless of the peculiarities of their psychophysical development. This system includes different forms of coeducation and upbringing of the children with special needs and their healthy peers.

The Ukrainian-Dutch project “Sunshine” aims at improving the life quality of life of visually impaired children; it is realized in Chernihiv and Slovyansk secondary special boarding-schools for visually impaired children under the guidance of Chernihiv and Donetsk State Regional Administrations of Education and Science. The discussed issue concerns the introduction of individual plans of support into the education process, full adaptation of these children and in the perspective – the possibility to get competitive education.

In the frame of this big project Chernihiv region charity Aratta with the financial support of MATRA program of Kingdom of the Netherlands Embassy in Ukraine realizes the “Parent’s voice” project. It is aimed at social adaptation and development of visually impaired children’s potential through the foundation of a parents’ organization for their activization.

The main problem of blind people is not only the loss of sight; it is the problem with perception of the people around, the absence of access to the information and possibilities of their potential realization in the society.
