July, 16, 2010 Best greetings to you, my dear narratees. I’m Irina, a mother of a family with many children. I would like to share the joy we’ve got this summer. First of all I would like to remind that to be a mother of many children it’s a hard work 24 for hours per day. And it lasts every day for 15 years. You can imagine what my darling dream is. Yes indeed it is a rest! But unfortunately even a family holiday voucher is given only for two children and I have five. As for the prices for such vouchers they are unaffordable for our family. But still dreams come true! The news about the invitation for the whole family to have rest in the camp on the Desna river bank was as a sun ray on the rainy day. At last, with hurriedly packed things off we went to Makoshino village of Mena district in Chernigiv region. To reach the place we first went by Aratta’s bus, then on a cart. Here we are. Glade with the tents put in a circle. There is a dining-tent, fire-place, kitchen, washstand, rubbish place, eco-toilet equipped outside the camp place. After tasty lunch from chef we had a talk about “Protection of environment”, about “Behavior Rules in the Camp and at the river” and it was really useful both for parents and for children. And at last refreshing coolness of the river. The fairy-like bank with soft white sand, gently sloping rather shallow and even bottom. On the eve of the trip I worried very much about safety of my children at the river. Luckily volunteers of Aratta were always at hand and kept an eye on older children while I was busy with the youngest son who is only 2. And in the first place children enjoyed the sunny sky all round the day (the weather was just what the doctor ordered). The water in the river was warm all the day long. Suntan was just as well as from the see shoe and in addition we didn’t have to adapt to the change of climate. Three meals daily and fresh unskimmed cow milk in the evening, healthy sleep in the fresh air on air mattresses renewed our forces during first several days. Boating, fishing, building of sand castles, ball games, badminton, reading and drawing, morning exercises, walking on the dew, sunsets, trainings on environment protection, development of children’s work skills, picking up brushwood, dishwashing, mop-up operations, mixing with positively-minded people - all this activity is almost impossible in the city, and of course sitting round the flaming fire in the night. We will remember all this free play of nature and will draw strength from it all the year long! Thank you very much to our dear “Aratta” in Chernigiv and in Makoshino and of course to foreign sponsors Charitable Foundation ProForKids from the Netherland who made this summer-camp possible.
