Humanitarian aid load for the internat in Stara Basan village. 

Ukrainian Volunteers Fund and its president – Tymofiy Nagorny organized a charity act as a part of the project “Stars – to children”. It was a cleaning day in the internat on the 29th of May, for the Children Defense Day. The purpose of this event was to improve the territory and renovate internat premises, located in Stara Basan village, Bobrovytsky district, Chernihiv region.

Why has this internat in Stara Basan been chosen?

“It is very difficult for sponsors to get here” – tells Victoria Filatova, the Head of Chernihiv Region Charity “Aratta”. The internat is located in the old building, which is more than 120 years old. Yuriy Savych, the director of this internat, is doing a lot and taking care of children’s comfort. There are premises for sport activities, a canteen. Cossack movement was created here. But the director’s efforts are not enough. So Victoria Filatova is grateful to volunteers for choosing this particular internat.

The project “Stars – to children” is a public initiative of the Volunteers Fund. Today there are more than 100 thousand orphans in Ukraine and only one out of 100 children finds a family. The realization of this project provides substantial help to disadvantaged children. It is also very important to draw public attention to orphans’ problems; increase society attention to charity work; revive civil activity directed on solving of urgent problems of children, deprived of parental care; involve heads of enterprises, establishments and organizations into charity work.

The stars of Ukrainian show business were invited to sing songs and take part in the event, among them – “Alibi” band, “Antytila”, Alina Grosu, Arina Domski, El Kravchuk, Vlad Karashchuk, dancer Sergiy Kostetsky, equilibrist Sergiy Polyakov, gymnast Nadia Vasina, famous Ukrainian athlete Dmytro Haladzhy.

Many other public organizations took part in the event, including Chernihiv “Aratta”. “Aratta” people were present at the charity concert of Ukrainian pop-stars for children. Besides, “Aratta” bus delivered humanitarian aid from British Humanitarian Aid charity; seedlings and young tree plants from the firm “Grand-Flora” for planting greenery on the territory of the internat; building materials from hyper-markets “Vena” and “Budmaydan” for school renovation. Bus trip was financed by the old and sincere “Aratta” partner Oksana Kovalenko, the head of “Nasha Bulochka” (Our Bun) enterprise.
