And You? Are You responsible for our land?

INITIATIVE. The children who are under the care of Chernihiv regional Charity “Aratta” took in hand planting the trees in some areas of our city. This spring they has planted lime trees, rowan trees, oaks and silver trees in the Central Culture and Entertainment Park, in the school yard in r.Stary Bilous (a suburb of Chernihiv) as well as at t.Schors and t.Horodnya (small towns of the region). There appeared a real orchard in Makoshino village, Mena district, it was planted by senior pupils. School children are very proud of having been trusted to participate in such an important ecological event.

In addition, at t.Chernihiv, t.Schors and t.Horodnya within the framework of the project “Our Land Aratta”, the ecological trainings for senior pupils were held. These trainings were organized on the principle of peer education and the necessity of careful attitude to the nature was explained by specially prepared pupils. As Irina Onischenko, the leader of the project, says, peer education principle is the most efficient method in such situation. Moreover, the trainings were organized in an edutainment way. The author of the program is Irina Onischenko, who has been teaching chemistry at school at r.Stary Bilous and conducting the club “Ecology of Soul” for many years.
- We strive to increase the level of ecological consciousness among our youth, and give senior pupils the knowledge how they can amend the ecological situation locally, said the leader of the project “Our Land Aratta”
- We are convinced that Chernihiv people do not possess enough information on their responsibility for the environmental condition.
Within the framework of the project there had been developed and issued the leaflet “We are responsible for our Land”
