In this way the children defined their attitude to Chernihiv Region charity
“Aratta” at the “Day of the Open Doors”. On that day members of “Aratta”
welcomed their partners, co-thinkers, sponsors and representatives of the
mass media, or to put it better, “Aratta’s” friends.
Victoria Filatova, the chairwoman of “Aratta” said that only thanks to the
support of everybody who was present and thanks to their kind, friendly
attitude to our organization, “Aratta” has managed to enter a high level of
activity. We take part in social programs and realize them. We support
socially insecure children and large families. “Aratta” is becoming a
“volunteers” center. We start publishing information materials for
distribution and we also become partners in international cooperation.
Victoria has mentioned that it is hard for we ourselves to estimate the
activity of our organisation and to answer the question as to how we use the
possibilities for charity development and how much the activity of “Aratta”
is productive and effective. Of course the questions are not so easy.
Partners, colleagues and donors could answer them better. “The only thing we
can say honestly and with confidence is that we constantly consider and
analyse other people’s opinions about our activity and accept criticism and
advice”. All the time we try to carry out real work, to broaden our outlook,
to be well-informed and to increase the number of our acquaintances. We have
made more friends. We’ve learned to cooperate with other non-governmental
organizations and with the institutions of local government.
At the “Day of the Open Doors”, everybody could get acquainted with
“Aratta’s” life and activity. Everybody was impressed by the high level of
“ Aratta’s” study center presented by Halina Viter. Both for the children
and teenagers there is a fully-equipped computer class and an actor skills
class. Eighteen various groups function in “Aratta”. Highly qualified
teachers not only pass their knowledge on to the children but also mould the
children’s will, character, and desire to study and to develop themselves.
I was wandering in “ Arrata”, watching and listening. All the time I was
thinking, “It‘s a pity I was born too early – I won't be able to study here.
But my son will be lucky. He will come here to say: “ Aratta” is my happy
life of today.
